Summary:

The nine elementary schools in New Albany-Floyd County Con School serve PK–4 students in the New Albany/Floyd County area, enrolling 4,340 children across schools that range from a top-ranked, low-poverty campus to higher-poverty campuses with much lower proficiency and high absenteeism. The district ranks 102nd of 374 Indiana districts, at the 73rd percentile with 4 stars, but its elementary schools span from 17th of 1,015 statewide to 722nd of 1,015. Enrollment varies from 243 at S Ellen Jones Elementary School to 659 at Georgetown Elementary School. District all-grades benchmarks are ELA 51.72, Math 50.05, Science 45.47; district chronic absenteeism is 16.3%, close to the state’s 16.7%.

Greenville is the clear standout: 17th statewide, 98th percentile, 5 stars, with ELA 72.05, Math 87.77, Science 67.23, chronic absenteeism 5.4%, and 15.82% free/reduced lunch. Floyds Knobs is also elite: 54th statewide, 95th percentile, 5 stars, ELA 64.26, Math 79.15, Science 65.49, and the lowest chronic absenteeism at 5.3%. Grant Line and Georgetown are strong but uneven or slipping. Grant Line has ELA 64.1 and Math 70.26 but Science 38.74; Georgetown has ELA 55.2, Math 67.6, Science 44.44. Slate Run is mid-group: 448th, 56th percentile, ELA 41.46, Math 53.66.

Among the higher-poverty schools, Fairmont improved ELA from 26.15 to 46.27 and Math from 47.69 to 53.33, but Science is only 24.24. S Ellen Jones remains lowest-performing: 722nd, 29th percentile, 1 star, with Math 29.03, Science 17.86, 30.0% chronic absenteeism, and the highest spending at $15,771 per student. Green Valley improved from 39th to 51st percentile, with Math rising from 46.84 to 52.12, but has the highest chronic absenteeism at 30.2% and highest free/reduced lunch at 63.61%. Mount Tabor declined sharply, from #226 to #497, with ELA falling from 50.45 to 36.09 and Math from 66.07 to 54.51. Across the group, Science is the weakest subject—only Greenville and Floyds Knobs exceed the district Science figure of 45.47—and achievement tracks poverty and attendance: low-FRL schools average about 63.9 ELA, 76.2 Math, 54.0 Science, and 7.9% chronic absenteeism, while high-FRL schools average about 40.6 ELA, 48.5 Math, 31.7 Science, and 24.6% chronic absenteeism. Higher spending does not line up with higher outcomes here.
