Families in the Center Grove Community School Corp area have two middle schools to choose from, both serving grades 6–8: Center Grove Middle School Central and Center Grove Middle School North. Together they enroll 2,358 students, with Central the larger campus at 1,278 students and North at 1,080. The district ranks 19th of 374 districts statewide (95th percentile, 5 stars), and both middle schools hold 5-star ratings with rank histories that have improved in each of the past three years.
Center Grove Middle School Central is the stronger school on most overall measures. It ranks 13th of 486 middle schools (97th percentile) in 2025–2026, up from 33rd of 491 in 2023–2024 and 29th of 480 in 2024–2025. Its 2025–2026 all-grades proficiency leads North in ELA (68.36% vs. 62.76%), Math (63.12% vs. 59.05%) and Science (65.89% vs. 58.12%), and its ELA result rose 13.57 points in a single year. Central also has the lower chronic absenteeism rate (6.9% vs. 10.8%) and a lower free/reduced lunch share (19.41% vs. 33.8%). Its 7th-grade ELA (71.43%) and Math (67.75%) are especially strong.
Center Grove Middle School North ranks 22nd of 486 (95th percentile) and is the better performer in 8th grade, where its ELA (70.85% vs. 65.71%) and Math (57.60% vs. 55.51%) beat both Central and the district. North serves a higher-need population by poverty and attendance measures, yet still ranks in the top 5% of Indiana middle schools. Both schools post exceptional Biology End of Course results — 100% at Central and 98.53% at North in 2025–2026 — far above the district's 62.9%. Notably, North spends more per student ($9,314 vs. $9,040) and has smaller classes (18.7 vs. 20.7 students per teacher), showing resources and results do not move in lockstep. Either school is a strong choice.
