Summary:
Delphi, Indiana is home to exactly one elementary school — Delphi Community Elementary School — which serves grades PK–5 with 625 students and belongs to Delphi Community School Corp. Because it is the only elementary school in the city, it represents the entire elementary experience in Delphi, so the most useful comparisons are to its own district and to Indiana statewide figures.
The school's clearest strengths are engagement and recent academic momentum. Chronic absenteeism was 8.6% in 2024–2025, far below the district's 12.2% and roughly half the statewide rate of 16.7%, even though 56.96% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Academically, all-grade science jumped from 34.02% to 50.0% proficient, now above the district's 44.57%, and 4th-grade science (50.0%) and 4th-grade math (56.1%) both beat state rates of 43.8% and 52.0%. All-grade math rose from 35.44% to 40.43%, also ahead of the district's 34.38%, and 5th-grade social studies improved from 35.29% to 45.36%.
Challenges remain. English Language Arts was 27.56% proficient versus 30.45% in the district, and trailed the state at every grade: 25.96% in 3rd, 30.49% in 4th, and 26.8% in 5th. Fifth-grade math is the sharpest weakness at just 23.71% proficient, compared with 42.0% statewide and the school's own 56.1% in 4th grade. Overall, the school ranked 606 of 1,015 in 2025–2026 — the 40th percentile, up from the 32nd percentile a year earlier — while holding a 2-star rating. The picture is a school with strong attendance and rising math and science results, but with ELA and 5th-grade math as the main priorities.
