Summary:

Schools in ZIP code 60487 include five schools spanning elementary through high school: Millennium Elementary School, Christa McAuliffe School, Walker Intermediate School, Prairie View Middle School and Victor J Andrew High School. The clearest shared strength is that all four schools with all-grade IAR results exceeded state proficiency in both ELA and math in 2025–26: their averages were 72% in ELA and 56% in math, compared with state rates of 56% and 40%.

Millennium led the four IAR schools in both all-grade ELA (75%) and math (62%), while Walker led fifth-grade science at 72%, ahead of Millennium at 62% and Christa at 53%. The leaders vary by grade: Christa had the strongest fourth-grade ELA result at 79%, but the lowest fifth-grade math result among the reporting schools, at 42%. Prairie View was above state proficiency in both all-grade IAR subjects, but had the area’s highest chronic absenteeism, 18% versus 24% statewide; Christa’s was lowest, at 5%.

Recent changes also differ by subject and school. The four-school average for all-grade ELA rose 8 percentage points from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while the math average slipped 1 point as the state rate rose 1 point. Fifth-grade science improved at all three reporting schools, with its average up 13 points; Prairie View’s eighth-grade science instead fell 2 points. Andrew remained above state rates on its reported high-school tests, though its 11th-grade ACT results declined across all three subjects. Class-size measures offer another point of comparison: student-teacher ratios ranged from 10.7 at Walker to 15.4 at Andrew. Christa and Millennium reported free/reduced lunch eligible rates of 15% and 10%, respectively, both for 2021–22; these are contextual figures from that school year, not explanations for test results.
