The four schools in Summit Hill School District 161 serve elementary and middle-school grades in the Summit Hill area. In 2025–2026, all four scored above state proficiency levels in both English language arts (ELA) and math. Results were especially consistent in ELA, ranging from 70% to 73%, while math varied more widely, from 52% to 68%. The most important takeaway is that every school outperformed the state in both subjects, though math results differed considerably from school to school.

Indian Trail Elementary led in all-grades ELA and math, with 73.3% proficient in ELA and 68% in math; its math result was 29 percentage points above the state and 10 above the district. Walker Intermediate was close behind in ELA at 73.1%. At the other end, Summit Hill Junior High had the lowest math result, 52%—16 points below Indian Trail, but still 13 points above the state. Science results were also above state levels: Walker’s fifth-grade result was 72% and Junior High’s eighth-grade result was 60%; these are different grades, so they are not a direct school comparison.

Recent trends favor Walker: from 2024–2025, it gained 7 points in ELA and 5 in math, while the four-school average was essentially unchanged in ELA and fell 4 points in math. Rogus and Junior High declined in both subjects; Indian Trail gained 1 point in ELA and lost 5 in math. SchoolDigger gives four stars to each of the three schools with ranking histories; its 2025–2026 percentiles are 84th for Indian Trail, 79th for Rogus and 72nd for Junior High, all below their 2023–2024 percentiles. In 2024–2025, all four schools reported students eligible for free/reduced lunch: 24% at Indian Trail, 23% at Rogus, 21% at Junior High and 19% at Walker. Indian Trail had the smallest enrollment, 466, and a 12.1 student-teacher ratio; Rogus had the largest, 653, and a 9.5 ratio. These figures provide context, not an explanation for test results.
