As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is difficult to grade, as while there are good things in it, it also has many awful things as well. I'll clear those out of the way first: For starters, I would like to bring this up: If your child has the unfortunate luck of getting bullied physically, I would be VERY CAUTIOUS about sending them to PNHS. The anti-violence rules at this school are ridiculous, as even if you are being beaten to death by another student, if you raise a hand in defense even once you will receive the same level of punishment as the your attacker. When it comes to the bullying problem in general the staff is no help at all, and they will often refuse to do anything. When it comes to lunch, it is probably best that a student simply brings their own lunch, as the school lunches are fairly low quality and costs a lot, as the price for fruit is elevated and students are forced to buy a piece of the horrifically under-ripe, rock solid fruit to go along with their meal. (Although as a note, the cookies are admittedly amazingly delicious, and only 90c.) I also ran into a very disturbing incident where I realized that whenever I payed with cash for my lunch, the price fluctuated drastically (By roughly $3.50 for the exact same meal.) depending on which lunch lady was at the cash register. I'm trying to give the lunch ladies the benefit of a doubt and assume that it's just a price miscommunication, but to be safe I don't buy lunches anymore. There are more problems, but other than the fact that they annually allow a "Talent scout" into the school to scam kids and families out of their money, (And an absolutely INSANE Spanish/French teacher who shall not be named.) most of them are nitpicks.

There are good things about this school, it is very nice looking and well looked after. Despite the bullying assistance being worthless, the staff is generally friendly, and as someone who tends to get sick a lot, I can tell you first hand that the nurses are very kind and understanding. Despite the fact that the school is overflowing with students, the school does a decent job of keeping things from getting too out of control by having a lot of teachers. Most of the teachers at the school are somewhat approachable and engaging enough; and some will even apologize when the curriculum is unnecessarily convoluted. While the workload (At least in the honors classes, I can't speak for the regular ones.) can feel like they are just trying to find ways to waste your time, it would seem that it does something, as the grade average for the school is very good.

Overall, while this definitely would not be my first choice for a school, it does get the job done. Just keep your head down, stay away from the chocolate pudding, and this could be a fairly decent high school experience. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
