Summary

Libertyville High School is a public high school serving grades 9-12 in Libertyville, Illinois, part of the Chsd 128 school district. This top-performing school has consistently been ranked among the best high schools in Illinois, currently ranking 16th out of 698 schools for the 2024-2025 school year.

Libertyville High School's academic excellence is evident in its strong performance on standardized tests, with 82.4% of 11th-grade students proficient or better in ACT/English Language Arts, compared to 81% for the district and 51.7% for the state. In mathematics, 74.6% of 11th-graders were proficient or better, surpassing the district's 74% and the state's 39.3%. The school also boasts an impressive 96.5% four-year graduation rate, significantly higher than the state average, and a low dropout rate of just 0.6%.

While Libertyville High School outperforms nearby schools like Warren Township High School and Vernon Hills High School on most metrics, the differences are not always substantial. This suggests that the Chsd 128 district as a whole provides a high-quality education to its students. One area for improvement is the school's relatively high chronic absenteeism rate of 18.4%, which, although lower than the state average and nearby schools, is still an issue the school and district may want to address.

Open Quote I often wonder what type of educational experience we could get at a private school with the amount of money we pay in property taxes for this school. It seems to me that there is way too much money spent on special education and various other things that don't directly benefit my children. Close Quote
