Summary:
The Peru Education Service District 124 list includes two schools serving prekindergarten through grade 8: Northview Elementary School (PK–4) and Parkside Middle School (grades 5–8); no high school is listed. Across the two schools, average 2025–2026 results were above the state’s all-grades results in both English language arts (ELA) and mathematics. The most important distinction for families is that the schools’ strongest all-grades subject results differ sharply: Parkside leads in ELA, while Northview leads in mathematics.
Parkside stands out in all-grades ELA, with 66% proficient compared with Northview’s 59%, an 8-point gap; both are above the state, by 10 points and 2 points, respectively. Northview is the clear all-grades mathematics standout: 56% proficient versus Parkside’s 34%, a 22-point difference. Northview is 16 points above the state in mathematics, while Parkside is 6 points below. Parkside’s grade results add important detail: seventh-grade mathematics is 10 points above the state, but eighth grade is 11 points below; its fifth-grade ELA is 18 points above the state, while sixth grade is 5 points below. Because the schools serve different grades, the all-grades school comparisons are not grade-matched.
Results rose at both schools from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: Northview gained 2 points in ELA and 2 in mathematics, while Parkside gained 9 and 3 points, respectively. Parkside also exceeded the state in science by 6 points in fifth grade and 9 in eighth grade. However, SchoolDigger’s percentile ranking fell from 69 to 61 for Northview and from 65 to 53 for Parkside; both are listed with three stars in the latest ranking history. Northview has 594 students and a 13.5 student-teacher ratio; Parkside has 372 students and a 12.8 ratio. In 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible students were 56% at Northview and 55% at Parkside. These are useful context points, but they do not establish why achievement results differ.
