Summary:
Oglesby Education Service District 125 has two schools serving prekindergarten through grade 8: Lincoln Elementary School (PK–5) and Washington Elementary School (grades 6–8). In 2025–2026, Lincoln’s all-grades results were 52% proficient in English language arts (ELA) and 33.1% in math; Washington’s were 44% and 32.5%, respectively. Both schools were below state results in both subjects, with Washington’s 12-point ELA shortfall the largest overall concern.
Grade-level results show important strengths as well as weak spots. Lincoln’s strongest reported result was fourth-grade ELA: 61% proficient, 5 points above the state. Washington’s sixth graders were also above state in both ELA (61% versus 59%, a 3-point advantage) and math (39% versus 36%, a 2-point advantage). The clearest low results were Washington’s seventh- and eighth-grade ELA: 32% and 37%, respectively, each 26 points below the state. Lincoln was below state in math across its reported grades, by 12 points in grade 3, 7 in grade 4, and 9 in grade 5; its grade 5 science result was 10 points below state.
Recent trends differ by school and subject. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Lincoln’s ELA rose 15 points, from 37% to 52%, while Washington’s fell 17 points, from 61% to 44%; Lincoln’s ELA gap to state narrowed, while Washington moved from above state to below. Math fell 4 points at Lincoln and rose 3 at Washington, but both remained below state. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile ranking declined from 42 to 32 for Lincoln across the three reported years; Washington’s went from 46 to 61, then 31. Student-teacher ratios were similar in 2024–2025 (12.6 and 12.8). Both schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–2025: 50% at Lincoln and 47% at Washington. These all-grades comparisons cover different grade spans, and Washington’s grade 8 math and science results are suppressed.
