Niles Township HSD 219 has two high schools in the Niles Township area, both serving grades 9–12: Niles West High School, with 2,646 students, and Niles North High School, with 1,999. The latest results show a strong shared pattern: both schools exceed state proficiency results in every reported subject and grade, by about 8 to 18 percentage points.

Neither school leads across the board. Niles North has the edge in all three 10th-grade results, by 5 points in English Language Arts, 5 points in math and 5 points in science; Niles West leads in all three 9th-grade results, by 1 to 2 points. On the 11th-grade ACT, the schools tie in English Language Arts, West leads in math by 3 points, and North is ahead in science by 0.4 points. SchoolDigger ranks North 76th of 620 schools, in the 88th percentile with 4 stars, and West 82nd, in the 87th percentile with 4 stars.

Results changed in different directions depending on grade and subject: ACT math rose by 9 points at West and 6 at North, and 9th-grade PreACT math also increased at both; 10th-grade PreACT science fell by 12 points at West and 5 at North. Both schools still exceeded state results in those subjects. Graduation rates were above the state’s 90% at West (91%) and North (92%), while chronic absenteeism was also above the state’s 24%: 26% at West and 32% at North. North has a lower student-teacher ratio than West, 11.5 versus 13.4. The reported free/reduced lunch eligible shares for 2021–2022 were 32% at North and 27% at West. These differences offer context, but the results do not point to one consistent academic leader.
