Summary:
Mannheim School District 83 has four schools: Roy, Westdale and Scott elementary schools for kindergarten through grade 5, and Mannheim Middle for grades 6–8. The clearest area-wide concern is that every school is below the state on all-grades English language arts (ELA) and math in 2025–26. Across the four schools, the equal-weight average gap is 12 points below the state in ELA and 14 points below in math; Mannheim Middle’s math result is 18 points below the state. Math is the most important overall concern.
Roy leads the elementary schools on all-grades results, with 48% in ELA and 30% in math—7 points and 5 points ahead, respectively, of the other elementary schools’ averages. Scott is lowest on both, at 40% in ELA and 23% in math. But grade-level results can change the picture: Westdale leads grade 5, with 61% in ELA and 49% in science; its science result is 2 points above the state, while Scott’s 22% is 26 points below. Recent changes are mixed, and the area’s average results have not kept pace with state gains. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, the four-school average rose about 1 point in ELA while the state rose 3 points; the math average was essentially unchanged as the state gained 1 point. Mannheim Middle improved in both subjects, while Roy gained 5 points in math but lost 2 in ELA; Westdale lost 5 in math, and Scott lost 2. SchoolDigger ranking percentiles fell at all four schools from 2023–24 to 2025–26: 16 points at Mannheim Middle, 9 at Roy, 20 at Westdale and 8 at Scott; the district is rated one star and at the 11th percentile. In 2024–25, student-teacher ratios ranged from 10.2 at Scott to 11.8 at Roy, while free/reduced lunch eligible shares ranged from 60% at Roy to 66% at Scott; these figures are context, not explanations for test results.
