Summary:
The two schools in Liberty CUSD 2 serve prekindergarten through grade 5 at Liberty Elementary School and grades 6–12 at Liberty High School. In 2025–2026, both schools’ all-grades IAR proficiency rates were above state results in English language arts and math, and chronic absenteeism was well below the state rate. The clearest headline is that the elementary school’s math result was especially strong overall, while the high school’s math advantage over the state was much smaller.
Liberty Elementary stands out in all-grades math: 61% were proficient, 21 percentage points above the state, compared with 42% at Liberty High, 2 points above the state. Elementary ELA proficiency was 67%, 11 points above the state; high school ELA was 64%, 7 points above. The elementary result hides a notable weak spot: fifth-grade math proficiency was 29%, 7 points below the state, while third- and fourth-grade results were 37 and 22 points above their state benchmarks. At the high school, grade 11 ACT results were 12 points above the state in ELA, 22 in math, and 14 in science; its graduation rate was 95%, versus 90% statewide. The schools serve different IAR grade spans, so their overall figures are not same-grade comparisons.
Results improved substantially at the elementary school from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: ELA rose 13 percentage points and math 17. High school IAR proficiency edged down, by less than a point in ELA and 2 points in math. SchoolDigger rankings nevertheless rose at both schools: the elementary moved from the 64th to the 72nd percentile, and the high school from the 78th to the 87th. In 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligibility was similar—28% at the elementary and 29% at the high school; student-teacher ratios were 13.5 and 11.9, respectively. These figures provide context, not an explanation for the schools’ different results.
