Summary:
Fairfield PSD 112 has two schools: North Side Elementary School, serving prekindergarten through grade 3, and Center Street Elementary School, serving grades 4–8. Both schools had lower chronic absenteeism in 2025–26 than the statewide rate: 13% at North Side and 13% at Center Street, compared with 24% statewide. The clearest standout is North Side’s grade 3 performance, especially in ELA, where its proficiency rate was 28 percentage points above the state.
North Side stands out on its reported grade 3 results: 76% were proficient in ELA versus 48% statewide, and 63% in math versus 49% statewide. Center Street has a more varied picture. Its average across grades 4–8 was 63% in ELA, 5 points above the same-grade state average, but 33% in math, 5 points below. Math was below the state in grades 4–6 and above it in grades 7–8; grade 5 was the weakest comparison, at 22% versus 36%. Science was a bright spot: Center Street was above the state in both tested grades, by 7 points in grade 5 and 2 points in grade 8.
Results generally rose from 2024–25 to 2025–26, but the gains were not uniform. North Side’s all-grades ELA increased by 25 points and math by 6; Center Street’s ELA rose by 14 points while its math barely changed. Center Street’s math gap to the state widened from 7 points below to 8 points below, despite that small increase. SchoolDigger reports Center Street at the 51st percentile in 2025–26, down from the 64th percentile in 2023–24. Enrollment and student–teacher ratios are similar: 321 students and a 13.5 ratio at North Side, versus 296 students and 12.4 at Center Street. In 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible students were 49% at North Side and 67% at Center Street; this is context, not an explanation for test results. Because the schools serve different grades, their all-grades scores are not direct comparisons, and SchoolDigger’s reported percentiles are not fixed-place rankings across years.
