Summary:

Canton Union School District 66 has five schools—three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school—serving students from elementary through high school in the Canton area. In 2025–26, the elementary schools averaged 49% proficiency in math, 9 percentage points above the state, and 57% in ELA, 1 point above it. The clearest shared strength is elementary math, though school and grade results vary considerably.

Among the elementary schools, Westview Elementary School led in math at 57%, while Lincoln Elementary School led in ELA at 61.1%; Eastview Elementary School had the lowest results in both, at 42% in math and 50% in ELA. The math gap between Westview and Eastview was 16 percentage points. SchoolDigger’s elementary rankings also put Westview highest, at the 63rd percentile, followed by Lincoln at the 53rd and Eastview at the 37th. At Ingersoll Middle School, ELA was near the state result, but math was 9 points below it. Canton High School had a bright spot in 9th- and 10th-grade science, where results exceeded state rates; 11th-grade ACT science, however, was 17 points below the state.

Recent changes favor elementary ELA but show mixed math progress: the three-school ELA average rose 8 points from 2024–25, while the math average fell 2. Westview gained 17 points in SchoolDigger’s percentile ranking over three years, while Ingersoll fell 17; these are ranking changes, not proficiency changes. Context measures do not follow a simple pattern with results: in 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 44% at Lincoln and 61% at Eastview, while their student-teacher ratios were 10.3 and 10.7, respectively. Westview’s ratio was 15.0, yet it led elementary math. These measures describe school contexts and do not explain achievement.
