Summary:
Bismarck Henning CUSD has three listed schools serving PK–12: Bismarck-Henning Elementary School (PK–4), Bismarck-Henning Junior High School (grades 5–8), and Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School 1 (grades 9–12). The latest all-grade test results show both schools with reported results above the state in ELA, but not a consistently strong picture in mathematics: the two-school average is 69% in ELA, 13 percentage points above the state, while its 39.8% math average is just 0.2 points above the state’s 39.6%.
Bismarck-Henning Elementary School leads the two reported schools in both subjects in 2025–2026, with 76% proficiency in ELA and 53% in math, versus 62% and 26% at the junior high—a 14-point ELA gap and a 27-point math gap. The elementary school is also 19 points above the state in ELA and 14 points above in math; the junior high is 6 points above the state in ELA but 13 points below in math. Grade results add useful detail: elementary third-grade ELA is 31 points above the state, while fourth-grade math is 7 points below; junior-high sixth-grade ELA is 19 points above, while seventh-grade math is 17 points below.
Results rose from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, especially elementary ELA, which increased 42 points; junior-high ELA rose 5 points, compared with a 3-point state increase. The two-school ELA average climbed 24 points, while the math average gained 8 points against a 1-point state gain. SchoolDigger ranks the elementary school at the 74th statewide percentile (4 stars) and the junior high at the 52nd percentile (3 stars). Their student-teacher ratios are similar, at 13.4 and 13.6, and their free/reduced lunch eligible measures are 41% and 44%, respectively (sy 2024–2025). Chronic absenteeism is 15% at the elementary school and 7% at the junior high. No test results are supplied for the high school, and the state suppressed the junior high’s eighth-grade math result, so test comparisons here cover only the other reported results.
