Summary:
Midland High School is the only high school listed in Midland CUSD 7, serving grades 9–12 and enrolling 194 students. Its results can be compared with Illinois and followed across two school years, but there are no local high-school peers to compare. The most important finding is a sharp grade-level split: in 2025–26, Midland was above state results in all three 11th-grade ACT subjects and all three 10th-grade PreACT subjects, but below state results in all three 9th-grade PreACT subjects.
Because Midland is the only school in the area’s high-school list, it is not a demonstrated leader over local peers; its strongest results stand out against the state. Tenth-grade PreACT Science reached 66%, versus 48% statewide, an 18-point advantage, while ELA was 71% versus 54%, a 17-point advantage. Its clearest relative weakness was 9th-grade PreACT Science: 33% were proficient, compared with 47% statewide, a 14-point gap. Ninth-grade ELA and math were also below the state, each by 8 points. By contrast, 11th-grade ACT results were 10 points higher in ELA, 6 points higher in math and 6 points higher in science.
Results improved substantially in grades 10 and 11 from 2024–25 to 2025–26, but fell in grade 9: 11th-grade ACT subjects rose by 20–23 points and 10th-grade PreACT subjects by 11–28 points, while 9th-grade PreACT subjects declined by 15–33 points. SchoolDigger’s ranking moved from 245th of 697 schools (65th percentile) in 2023–24 to 268th of 698 (62nd) in 2024–25, then 202nd of 620 (67th) in 2025–26. Graduation was 91% versus 90% statewide, while chronic absenteeism was 29% versus 24%. In 2024–25, 52% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible; the student-teacher ratio was not reported. With only one school listed, these figures cannot show differences among local high schools.
