That is a strong rebound from the previous three years, when the school earned only 2 stars and ranked in the 36th–46th percentile. The district itself is rated 4 stars and ranks 25th out of 101 Idaho districts.

Academically, math is Mountain View Elementary School's clearest strength. In 2025–2026, 51.8% of students scored proficient in math, above both the district (47.2%) and the state (43.1%), and math proficiency has improved four years in a row. English Language Arts is solid, at 53.2% proficient — slightly below the state average of 54.0% — but 3rd and 6th grade ELA scores are notably above state levels. Science is the biggest concern: only 35% of students were proficient in 2024–2025, well below the state's 42.6%. Among nearby schools, Inkom Elementary School, the district's top performer, posted much higher scores in both math and ELA, while Downey Elementary School, also in the same district, had just 19.2% math proficiency. Interestingly, Lava Elementary School achieves strong results despite having a much higher poverty rate.

Two trends deserve attention. Chronic absenteeism has risen to 18.5%, above the state's 13.8% and the district's 16.6%. And free/reduced lunch eligibility jumped from 21% to 37.7% in a single year, signaling growing economic need. The school also operates on a lean budget — about $6,618 per student — with a relatively high student-teacher ratio of 17.2 to 1. Mountain View has proven it can perform at a high level, but the recent rebound could be fragile. The combination of rising absenteeism and poverty, plus weak science scores, means the school will need to focus on attendance and science instruction to avoid slipping back into its earlier 2-star range.
