Open Quote This school is under a new Principal and he is awesome! Lots of great changes! You can tell he is really proactive and active in his current position (was vice principle before) Any bullying happening in the school and especially if they are notified, they handle it same day! Teachers are a hit and a miss, with majority of them great. I will say making sure you look over hw with you kids is a must because some teachers do not really check hw but only see if it was completed. So when quizzes/tests come around, this is when you really notice if your child is behind or not. Another great thing about this school is I like how there is a happy medium with school work and fun. Lots of field trips and learning about Hawaiian culture. 3rd Graders get to plant Loi (edible plant), 4th graders maintain and pick to eat (I may be wrong, my kids are telling me) Really fun for the kids. I have 2 kids that have been attending since 2013. I had a lot of concerns coming to the island, and even tried homeschooling a bit. But because of personal circumstances, I reenrolled them into Webling. I write this review now, because of the new principle in charge. I was always impressed by how interactive and engaged the principle was when he was vice principal. Very happy with this school!! Close Quote

Open Quote We only had the pleasure of attending Webling for 5 months with our Kindergartener in Mrs. Tamaoka's room, but boy did we love it. It's the hidden gem. I can't say enough about how happy our son was and what a pleasure it was to have him go there. Great kids, great faculty and wonderful programs. He learned many Hawaiian songs and things that his sister in private k-2 didn't learn while in Hawaii. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
