Tate Elementary School

Public Grades PK, KG-4
Summary

Tate Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 477 students in grades PK-4 in Tate, Georgia, which is part of the Pickens County School District. The school has shown strong performance in mathematics, with 3rd and 4th grade students consistently outperforming the Pickens County and Georgia state averages on the Milestones Assessment. In 2024-2025, 52.7% of 3rd graders and 66.3% of 4th graders at Tate Elementary were proficient or better in mathematics, compared to 46.8% and 64.4% in Pickens County, and 44.3% and 49% statewide.

Tate Elementary has generally performed well, ranking in the top half of Georgia elementary schools, and reaching the top 30% statewide in 2024-2025. However, the school's performance has fluctuated over the years, with its statewide ranking and star rating from SchoolDigger varying between 2 and 4 stars. Interestingly, Poole's Mill Elementary and Matt Elementary, schools in the neighboring Forsyth County district, significantly outperform Tate Elementary and the other Pickens County schools in terms of test scores and statewide rankings.

One notable factor is that Tate Elementary has a relatively high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, reaching 68.34% in 2023-2024, which is significantly higher than the nearby Pickens County schools. This suggests that the school may be serving a more economically disadvantaged population, which could be an important factor to consider when analyzing its performance.
