Summary

World Language Academy is an elementary school in Flowery Branch, GA, serving 677 students in grades PK-5 within the Hall County School District, and it has been steadily climbing the statewide rankings—from the 41st percentile in 2022-2023 to the 65th percentile in 2025-2026, now earning a 3-star rating.

The school’s standout strength is 3rd grade math, where 74.1% of students scored proficient in 2025-2026—far outpacing the district average of 40.5% and the state average of 48.3%, and beating every nearby school, including Spout Springs Elementary (58%). This is a big jump from the prior year’s 55.9%. The school also shines with its Hispanic and English Language Learner students, ranking in the 72nd and 66th percentiles statewide, respectively—a sign that its language-focused mission is delivering real academic benefits. Chronic absenteeism is remarkably low at just 7.9%, less than half the district rate of 18.6%, and a major improvement from 16.5% two years ago. Even with 59% of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch, ELA proficiency in 3rd and 4th grades exceeds both district and state averages, though 5th grade ELA dips slightly below the state.

There are a couple of areas to watch. Math proficiency drops sharply as students advance—from 74.1% in 3rd grade to 44.2% in 5th grade—a pattern seen again this year, suggesting a challenge in sustaining early gains. Science in 5th grade (31.2%) also trails the state average of 44.2%, though it has improved from 13.4% a few years ago. Compared to nearby schools, World Language Academy clearly outperforms Martin Elementary (22nd percentile), Myers Elementary (34th), and Flowery Branch Elementary (49th), while sitting just below Spout Springs (84th) and Chestnut Mountain Elementary (68th)—though those two serve more affluent populations. Notably, the school spends less per student ($11,535) than many peers yet achieves stronger results, pointing to efficient resource use and a clear upward trajectory.

Open Quote My daughter is now in 5th Grade and has attended WLA since Kindergarten. One of the key drivers that drove our decision to enroll her there, was the fact that Chinese was one of the languages that students would study. This was beneficial for our daughter since she was adopted from China. She loves the school as do we. Close Quote

Open Quote This is probably the best school in the State of Georgia. The foresight the superintendent and administration have cannot be compared! They embrace technology and embrace other cultures. I feel fortunate to have this school so close to my home. I currently have 2 children at the school with my 3rd starting Kindergarten next year. I do know the Dual-Immersion model is not for all students, but I feel those that are able to thrive in this environment! Close Quote
