Summary

Burnette Elementary School is a public elementary school in Suwanee, Georgia, serving 700 students in grades PK-5. As part of the Gwinnett County School District, which is ranked 67 out of 206 districts in the state, Burnette consistently outperforms the district and state averages in academic assessments.

Burnette Elementary has been ranked among the top 20% of Georgia elementary schools for several years, reaching as high as 101st out of 1,234 schools in 2018-2019 and 2017-2018. The school's strong academic performance is reflected in its students' Milestones Assessment scores, which are significantly higher than the Gwinnett County and Georgia state averages. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, 67.2% of Burnette's 5th-grade students scored proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 48.8% for the district and 43% for the state.

While Burnette Elementary outperforms its district and state counterparts, it is not the highest-performing school in the immediate area. Level Creek Elementary and Parsons Elementary, both within a few miles of Burnette, consistently rank higher and have even stronger academic performance. Additionally, Burnette has seen an increase in the percentage of students from lower-income families, which may present opportunities for the school to explore targeted interventions or additional resources to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.

Open Quote My daughter is in 5th and has attended BES since Kindergarten. My son is currently in 3rd. We have had nothing but positive experiences! The teachers and staff are amazing, caring people. I love the diversity within the school and how they promote the diversity with events such as International Night. I'm so glad my children are able to spend their elementary years here! Close Quote

Open Quote Worst Ever.... School has a large transient population do the large number of apartment complexes feeding it. Therefore, many issues that come along with this population. Many students cannot speak English and take more time and resources from the teachers. Also, many illnesses and other communicable issues. Head Lice are a constant within the school, and are passed around in all grades, due to lack of personal hygiene of the newly transient population. Only go here as your last option. Close Quote

Open Quote The school is fine but I find the staff to be incredibly rude. We moved from another state and I was surprised how lacking in southern hospitality they were. Close Quote
