Summary

Suwanee Elementary School in Suwanee, GA, is a PK-5 school in the Gwinnett County district serving 637 students, and it has earned a reputation as one of the top elementary schools in the state.

This school is truly exceptional. In the latest rankings, Suwanee Elementary placed 17th out of 1,219 Georgia elementary schools—a 99th percentile ranking with a 5-star rating. That’s a big jump from 44th place the year before, and it continues a steady climb over the past three years. What makes this even more impressive is how consistent the achievement is across every grade and subject. For example, 3rd grade math proficiency is 84.6%, 4th grade math is 88.7%, and 5th grade science is 85.3%—all roughly 30 to 40 percentage points above state averages. The school also keeps class sizes small with a 12.6:1 student-teacher ratio, and chronic absenteeism is remarkably low at just 6.5%, compared to 17.7% statewide. That tells you families and staff are deeply engaged in making sure kids show up and learn.

Suwanee Elementary also stands out among its neighbors. It’s part of a remarkable cluster of top schools in the area, including Level Creek Elementary (ranked 7th), Riverside Elementary (26th), and Roberts Elementary (36th). Yet Suwanee achieves its top-20 ranking while serving a student population with a 31.7% free/reduced lunch rate—notably higher than Level Creek’s 15.1%—which suggests the school is getting exceptional results from its students. It also does so efficiently, spending $14,601 per student, less than several lower-ranked nearby schools like Burnette Elementary and Walnut Grove Elementary. For parents, this is a school that delivers outstanding academics, strong attendance, and smart use of resources—a combination that’s hard to beat.

Open Quote Kindergarten has not been a great experience at this school. My child was very well prepared to Kindergarten, but he gets very little attention in class. The class sizes are way too big. 21 kids in kindergarten with no parapro is too many. They started the year with 25 and we're down to 20. I think many parents were turned off by the size of the class, and the lack of attention available to each child. Close Quote
