Summary

Manning Oaks Elementary School in Alpharetta, GA, serves 764 students from Pre-K through 5th grade within the Fulton County School District, and it has earned a solid reputation as an above-average, steadily improving school in a highly competitive area.

Manning Oaks stands out for its exceptional support of English Language Learners (ELL), ranking in the 92nd percentile statewide with a 5-star rating—a distinctive strength that sets it apart from nearby schools like Crabapple Crossing Elementary School and Creek View Elementary School, where ELL performance isn't highlighted as a top-tier metric. The school also serves a more diverse socioeconomic population, with nearly 30% of students eligible for free or reduced lunch, compared to just 5-8% at several neighboring schools. Despite this, Manning Oaks maintains strong academic outcomes, with math and science proficiency rates consistently outpacing district and state averages. The school has also made impressive strides in reducing chronic absenteeism, dropping from 19.2% in 2021-2022 to just 7.6%—less than half the district average of 16.6%.

While Manning Oaks is clearly a high-performing school, it operates in the shadow of elite neighbors like Summit Hill Elementary and Lake Windward Elementary School, which consistently rank in the top 5-10% statewide. One area of focus is a noticeable dip in 5th-grade math proficiency (55.6%), which falls below the district average and represents a drop from the strong 68-72% proficiency rates seen in 3rd and 4th grades. Additionally, the school shows a gender gap, with male students ranking in the 87th percentile versus 79th for females. Still, Manning Oaks' steady climb from the 69th to the 84th percentile in state rankings, combined with its efficient use of resources (spending about $15,252 per student—less than some neighbors like Alpharetta Elementary School at $21,169), makes it a compelling choice for families seeking a diverse, supportive, and improving school environment.

Open Quote My son had a great experience in Mrs. Zack's kindergarten class during the 2016-2017 school year. He loved all his teachers. Close Quote

Open Quote I have a child with ADHD and he has been treated abusively in other schools. Here, my son is on the Honor Roll, made safety patrol, and has really blossomed. MOE has wonderful teachers and staff that really care to help a child succeed. My daughter has blossomed there, too. As far as I am concerned, MOE is the best school there is, hands down! Open Quote We have been attending Manning Oaks since 1st grade. Next year I will have a 5th grader and a Kindergartener. We have had a great experience so far! The teacher are caring and attentive. The support staff is helpful and friendly. The PTA is top notch and has great activities throughout the year for students and parents. I highly recommend this school and the area - well, there is nothing better and more convenient. Close Quote
