Fairington Elementary School consistently ranks among the lowest-performing elementary schools in Georgia, ranking between 1143-1211 out of 1238-1248 Georgia elementary schools over the past several years. The school's performance on the Milestones Assessment is significantly below the state and county averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 16.3% of 3rd graders, 10.4% of 4th graders, and 22.4% of 5th graders were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to the state averages of 34.9%, 39.3%, and 43%, respectively. Fairington Elementary School has a 100% free and reduced lunch rate, indicating that all of its students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

When comparing Fairington Elementary School to the nearby schools in the same district, such as Rainbow Elementary, Marbut Elementary, and Flat Rock Elementary, it is clear that Fairington is the lowest-performing school in the area. These nearby schools have significantly higher academic performance and proficiency rates than Fairington. The higher per-student spending and lower student-teacher ratio at Fairington Elementary School compared to some of the nearby schools could indicate potential opportunities for targeted interventions and additional support for students and teachers, but these resources alone do not seem to be translating into improved academic outcomes.

Open Quote I was in 5th grade there and was called names and picked on the whole time but yet nothing was done about it the kids are non stop cussing and fighting the lunch room has roaches the gym teacher was putting his hands on kids yet none of the teachers or princeibles cared... They can not keep their kids in order teachers are lazy and cuss also.. and this is coming from a student.... If you are sending your kids to this school you might as well send them to a dumpster because that's with this school is..... coming from a true student who had to go through half the school year being called names and deal with people hitting me and with my parents calling the school to complain they said it would stop but still never did!!!!!
