Summary

Tuskegee Airman Global Academy is an elementary school in Atlanta's Westhaven Drive area serving 447 students in grades PK-5 as part of Atlanta Public Schools. This school has become one of the district's most compelling success stories, climbing from the 1st percentile statewide in 2020-2021 to the 44th percentile in 2025-2026—a dramatic 43-point gain that outpaces every nearby school.

The most striking improvement is in mathematics. Between 2022-2023 and 2025-2026, 3rd grade math proficiency jumped from 20.2% to 46.8%, and 4th grade math rose from 19.7% to 47.8%—both now essentially at or above district averages. The school also shows remarkably balanced outcomes for male and female students, with nearly identical subgroup rankings (43rd and 41st percentiles). While 5th grade math (26.9%) and science (30.2%) still lag behind district averages, the overall trajectory is unmistakably upward. The school now holds a 2-star rating, up from zero stars just three years ago, and outperforms nearby F. L. Stanton Elementary School (17th percentile), M. A. Jones Elementary School (12th percentile), and Cascade Elementary School (26th percentile). It also edges out KIPP Strive Primary Charter School (43rd percentile).

Two challenges remain. Chronic absenteeism sits at 27.4%, nearly double the rate at Beecher Hills Elementary School (14.6%), a nearby school serving a similar population that achieves a 72nd percentile ranking. Reducing absenteeism could be a key lever for continued growth. Additionally, the school spends $31,461 per student—less than several lower-performing peers like Finch Elementary ($39,281) and Paul L. Dunbar Elementary School ($36,030)—suggesting its resources are being used effectively. For parents, this is a school on a clear upward path, with strong early-grade math gains and a proven ability to lift student outcomes in a high-poverty setting.

Open Quote I am thrilled to share my exceptional experience with Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy (TAG) and the transformative impact it has had on my scholar's education. Enrolling my child at TAG three years ago has proven to be the best decision I could have made.

One of the standout aspects of TAG is its commitment to fostering a holistic environment of health and wellness for all students. The school goes beyond academic excellence and recognizes the importance of nurturing the well-being of every learner. While you may come across some negative feedback from the past, I urge you not to be misled. TAG has demonstrated remarkable progress academically over the past five years. Year after year, the school has incrementally improved its academic performance, reflecting a dedication to constant growth and improvement. This commitment to excellence is evident in the positive trajectory of academic achievement at TAG.

What sets TAG apart is its unwavering focus on the journey of improvement. The school actively involves families in this process, ensuring that parents and guardians are informed and engaged partners in their child's education.
