Summary

Peyton Forest Elementary School is a PK-5 school in Atlanta's southwest corridor, serving 283 students as part of Atlanta Public Schools, where 100% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

The most encouraging news for parents is the school's momentum. Peyton Forest has climbed from the 8th percentile statewide in 2023-2024 to the 21st percentile in 2025-2026—a jump of 194 positions and the school's best ranking in over a decade. This is the steepest improvement among nearby schools. For comparison, West Manor Elementary, located less than a mile away, actually declined from the 51st to the 38th percentile over the same period. The school's fifth-grade math proficiency jumped 18.3 percentage points in one year, reaching 29.8%—its best math performance in available data. Fourth-grade math (35.7%) is nearly double the third-grade rate (19.5%), suggesting a particularly strong cohort or effective instruction at that level. Chronic absenteeism has also improved significantly, dropping from 46.1% in 2021-2022 to 35.0% now, though it remains above the state average of 17.7%.

Peyton Forest invests heavily in its students, spending $34,679 per pupil with a favorable 10.8:1 student-teacher ratio—more than KIPP Strive Primary Charter School ($10,925 per student, 16.4:1 ratio) and Atlanta Heights Charter School ($18,539 per student). The school's African American students rank in the 40th percentile statewide, notably stronger than the school's overall ranking, suggesting effective support for its primary demographic. While West Manor still outperforms Peyton Forest on most metrics, the gap is closing rapidly. English Language Arts scores from the most recent testing cycle will be released in December, which will show whether the school's math gains are part of a broader academic turnaround.

Open Quote this is the worst school my daughter has attended. This school lacks everything, and needs to be shut down. the teachers have out of school relationships with the kids. Also the teachers and the favorite kids bullying other kids including mine. I went to teacher and parent dinner and she reeked of weed. the kids were listening to rap music with cuss words in it. My child has been jumped on video and nothing was done to the kids who did this. This school is terrible i do not think it is needs to be open my daughter has not learn nothing this year due to all the distractions the school has Close Quote
