Summary

Ponte Vedra Palm Valley- Rawlings Elementary School in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, serves 940 students in grades PK through 5 and is part of the highly-rated St. Johns County School District, which ranks 4th out of 70 districts in Florida.

This school stands out for its elite and consistent academic performance, with proficiency rates ranging from 86% to 93% in math and 88% to 89% in English Language Arts across all grades. It has maintained a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for over a decade and ranks in the top 2% of all elementary schools in Florida (34th out of 2,240 schools). A key differentiator is its exceptionally low chronic absenteeism rate of 8.7%, which is less than half the district average and nearly a quarter of the state average, indicating strong family engagement and a positive school culture. The school also operates efficiently, spending $10,080 per student, which is notably lower than nearby high-performing schools like Ocean Palms Elementary School ($14,341 per student) while achieving comparable or superior results.

Interestingly, the school boundary between St. Johns and Duval counties represents a dramatic shift in educational opportunity. While Ponte Vedra Palm Valley- Rawlings and other St. Johns schools like Palm Valley Academy rank in the top 5% of the state, nearby Duval schools such as Duval Charter School At Coastal (35th percentile) and Seabreeze Elementary School (69th percentile) struggle significantly. However, Jacksonville Beach Elementary School in Duval County is a notable outlier, ranking #3 in the state and outperforming Ponte Vedra Palm Valley- Rawlings in nearly every test score category, despite having a higher student-teacher ratio and lower spending per student. This suggests that exceptional school leadership and community support can overcome district-level challenges.

Open Quote This school needs a full administration make over. There are many problems that go on in this school and it is all dragged and covered under the rug. From bullying issues to teaching methods to unprofessional and uncaring staff. This school needs improvement in many areas. Close Quote

Open Quote I don't even understand what the above comments are supposed to mean, so I thought I'd post a useful comment for those looking for accurate information. My daughter is about to start her 4th year at PVPV Rawlings and we have had nothing but a great experience there. As with any school, there are some "just OK" teachers, but most are fabulous. Teachers WANT to work in St Johns County and at PVPV/Rawlings, so they are able to pick from the best. The administration, although maybe not warm and fuzzy, are responsive and available. As a parent, there are many opportunities to get involved and it's definitely encouraged by the school. Although it's a large school, I never felt like my daughter was just a number. The 2 campuses give it a smaller feel and make it easier to manage the 1200 kids who attend.
I've read some negative reviews, but from our experience over the past few years, my opinion and the opinion of all of my friends and neighbors is that PVPV/Rawlings is a great school overall. Close Quote

Open Quote Administration and teachers are very disrespectful and can't follow directions. Perhaps they are ADD or ADHD and should be drugged so they will learn to comply. Close Quote

Open Quote It's hard to rate a school on educational value when their focus is flexing what they perceive to be control over familys. If the administration would learn their role in a childs education is "education" and not controlling a family the community would be better served. PVPV/Rawlings is a typical school district snubbing their nose at the parents and children because they have the backing of the worthless unions. Take the government out of the schools and make the overpaid administration earn their keep. Close Quote
