Summary

Teague Middle School in Altamonte Springs, FL, is a public school serving 1,120 students in grades 6-8 as part of the highly-rated Seminole County Public Schools district, which ranks in the 89th percentile statewide.

Teague’s standout strength is its exceptional advanced math program. In the 2025-2026 school year, 100% of students taking the Geometry End-of-Course (EOC) exam were proficient, and 88% were proficient in Algebra 1—dramatically outperforming district and state averages. However, this success creates a paradox: on-grade-level math students struggle significantly, with only 45% of 8th graders proficient in FAST Math, well below the state average of 61%. This suggests the school channels its strongest math students into advanced tracks, leaving a larger proportion of students in standard classes who need more support. Overall, Teague is a stable, middle-of-the-pack performer within its district, earning a 3-star rating for six consecutive years and ranking in the 54th percentile statewide. It is comparable to its Seminole peer Milwee Middle School (55th percentile) but significantly behind Rock Lake Middle School (82nd percentile).

Compared to nearby schools in the Orange County district, Teague is a top-tier option. For example, in 8th-grade ELA, Teague’s 64% proficiency far exceeds Robinswood Middle (36%) and College Park Middle (44%). A growing concern is chronic absenteeism, which has risen sharply from 6.0% in 2019-2020 to 25.8% in 2023-2024—now above the district average and likely hindering overall growth. Despite having the lowest per-student spending ($9,324) among nearby schools, Teague achieves solid results, while higher-spending Orange County schools like Lockhart Middle ($12,886) see lower academic outcomes.
