Open Quote The worst group of unprofessional, out of the loop group of admin I have ever seen. They have a dean there that likes to pick on children who may have academic or emotional issues, she’s passive aggressive, speaks on s what she thinks their social economic or family unit speaks bad about parents to their children. If and when a reaction is provoked received & if the child or parent says something about this deans behavior that the staff completely allows and ignores due to the racial demographics at the school. Your child will be railroaded and retaliated against at this deans leisure directly or indirectly. It doesn’t matter how you try to work closely with the admin, they care nothing about the children there. Trust and believe. Close Quote

Open Quote This is an incredible urban middle school, and one of the few IB middle schools in the state. Memorial Middle School has an awesome Principal, Dr. Windom. She truly cares for her students and knows them by name. Her presence is felt throughout the school.

Dr. Windom has put into place an exceptional number of upgrades to improve student performances. Memorial Middle School's school grade has improved substantially under her leadership.

The teachers and administrators are very professional, and it shows in their conversations, attitudes, and interaction with their parents, students, peers, visitors, and other staffers.

They seem to really respect their peers, and you will often find several teachers and staffers involved in planning sessions and other types of collaborations. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
