Summary

Bryceville Elementary School is a small, rural K-5 school in Bryceville, FL, serving 197 students as part of the highly-rated Nassau County School District, which ranks 3rd out of 70 districts in Florida.

This school stands out as a true "pocket of excellence" in the region, consistently earning a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for six of the last seven years and ranking in the 94th percentile among all Florida elementary schools. Its academic performance is exceptional, particularly in math and science. For the 2025-2026 school year, math proficiency rates were 94% for 3rd graders, 89% for 4th graders, and 90% for 5th graders—a staggering 20-30 percentage points higher than the state average. In 5th-grade science, Bryceville achieved an 87% proficiency rate, compared to the state average of 60%. These scores far outpace nearby schools in the Duval County district, such as Westview K-8 (7th percentile) and Pickett Elementary School (66th percentile). Even Callahan Intermediate School, in the same district, trails at the 83rd percentile. The school also benefits from a low student-to-teacher ratio of 14.5:1, lower than all nearby schools, which likely supports its strong academic outcomes.

While Bryceville's academics are stellar, its chronic absenteeism rate of 26% (2023-2024) is a relative weakness, though it is lower than the Nassau district average of 36% and the state average of 31.4%. This rate is elevated compared to its pre-pandemic level of 9.4%, suggesting post-pandemic attendance challenges persist. The school spends $15,197 per student, higher than nearby schools, but the exceptional results justify this investment. For parents in the area, Bryceville represents a clear and compelling choice for elementary education, offering world-class instruction in a small, rural setting.

Open Quote My children attend this school, and they have had such a wonderful experience. The entire staff really seem to care about every student. They are extremely helpful to the students as well as the parents. They keep the parents well informed about their children’s progress in school, and have a lot of avenues to help their students in areas that may need extra attention. Close Quote
