Summary

Palm Springs Elementary School is a public elementary school in Hialeah, Florida, serving 570 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Miami-Dade County Public School District, which is ranked 22nd out of 67 districts in the state.

While Palm Springs Elementary has a relatively high per-student spending, ranging from $11,987 to $14,909 over the past few years, the school faces several challenges. It has consistently higher chronic absenteeism rates compared to the district and state averages, with a 31.4% rate in the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, the school's test scores are generally lower than the district and state averages across various subjects and grade levels, such as the 5th-grade science proficiency rate of 38% in the 2024-2025 school year, compared to 56% for Miami-Dade County and 55% for the state of Florida.

When compared to nearby schools in the same district, such as John G. Dupuis Elementary and Meadowlane Elementary, Palm Springs Elementary generally underperforms in terms of test scores, chronic absenteeism, and school rankings. Over the past several years, the school's statewide ranking has declined, from 807th out of 2,118 Florida elementary schools in 2017-2018 to 1,560th out of 2,258 in 2024-2025. While the high proportion of economically disadvantaged students at Palm Springs Elementary may be a contributing factor, further analysis of the school's resource allocation and strategies to address these issues could provide valuable insights for improving student outcomes.

Open Quote Overall experience
Pros: The school is well organized , staff is friendly and helpful, teachers are understanding and accommodates students to their needs , Cafeteria food is better than most of the schools I have seen and been. I like the after-school program : staff is friendly , feel secure leaving my children with them as well as the use of computer lab for I-ready and help with their homework .
Cons: I wished there was sports and dance programs. Would like the school to have better resources for the children, and better school maintenance ( Paint /TV/ etc ) yet, parents, teacher and staff help to maintain what the school already has.
Principal seen to be strict , but at the same time, kind and nice to students, seems very involve with the school activities, and students progress . Close Quote
