Weaver High School is a comprehensive public high school in Hartford, CT, serving 721 students in grades 9–12 within the Hartford School District. Located in a high-poverty urban area where roughly 84% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, the school has historically ranked near the bottom of Connecticut high schools, though it has shown meaningful improvement in recent years—moving from last in the state in 2023–24 to the 12th percentile in 2025–26.

There are real signs of progress to celebrate. Weaver's graduation rate jumped from 71.0% to 84.3% in a single year, now close to the district average. Chronic absenteeism, while still very high at 65.2%, has been trending downward. However, the contrast with University High School of Science and Engineering, located just 0.26 miles away in the same district, is striking: University posts dramatically better outcomes across every measure. Similarly, Hall High School just a few miles away serves a wealthier population and posts some of the best scores in the state. These comparisons highlight real potential for improvement at Weaver, while also showing how much opportunity gaps persist within the same region.
