Yet middle-school test scores show many students arrive already behind in math and reading, which helps explain the very low SAT math results. In short, Academy is a school that successfully gets students to graduation but struggles to move them to college-ready academic levels, especially in math. For families in New Britain, it is clearly a stronger option than the neighborhood high school on most measures, but it remains far behind surrounding suburban districts academically.
