Summary

Achievement First Hartford Academy is a public charter school serving 961 students in grades K-12 in Hartford, Connecticut. The school has a diverse student population, with a high percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Achievement First Hartford Academy has consistently maintained high four-year graduation rates, ranging from 80.6% to 89.6% in recent years, which is a notable strength compared to the surrounding schools. However, the school has experienced fluctuations in chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 17.7% to 29.8%, which could be an area for improvement. Academically, the school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science are generally lower than the state average, with only around 15-30% of students meeting or exceeding proficiency standards in Mathematics.

Compared to the nearby Jumoke Academy and Capital Preparatory Magnet School, Achievement First Hartford Academy generally performs better in terms of graduation rates and chronic absenteeism, but lags behind in academic proficiency across various subjects and grade levels. Addressing the factors behind high absenteeism and leveraging the school's socioeconomic context could be important strategies for the school to consider in order to enhance student outcomes.

Open Quote My son is currently attending this school. I absolutely love this school they make the parents become involved in the kids schooling. This school also start their scholars off from Kindergarten instilling college into their minds. They are a school of structure and they are helping me to build my son into a productive member of society because he is receiving a quality education which will allow him to pursue a wonderful career in 2027. Because that is the year he will graduate a 4yr college... Close Quote
