Summary

Dillon Valley Elementary School, a PK–5 public school in Dillon, Colorado, serves 395 students as part of Summit School District Re 1, a district ranked in the 68th percentile statewide. The school itself ranks in the 37th percentile of Colorado elementary schools, with 2025–2026 CMAS proficiency rates of 34.5% in ELA, 30.4% in math, and 32.3% in 5th-grade science — all below district and state averages.

Among nearby schools, Dillon Valley stands out for its high level of economic need. With 51.1% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, it has the highest poverty rate in its comparison group — well above Breckenridge Elementary School (11.2%) and Frisco Elementary School (27.0%). It also has the largest student-teacher ratio among nearby schools at 13.7. Academic proficiency is lower than most neighbors: while Breckenridge posts 61.7% ELA proficiency and Frisco 53.4%, Dillon Valley's 34.5% is closer to Silverthorne Elementary School's 27.0%, though still ahead of it.

There are encouraging signs as well. Fourth-grade ELA reached 48.3% proficiency in 2025–2026, slightly above the state average, and 5th-grade science was above state and district levels in 2023–2024 before slipping in recent years. The most pressing concerns are rising chronic absenteeism — up from 18.0% to 29.5% in a single year — and a significant achievement gap for economically disadvantaged students, who rank in the 7th percentile statewide. Notably, Upper Blue Elementary School has a similar poverty rate (47.1%) but outperforms Dillon Valley by roughly 19 points in ELA, suggesting that targeted efforts around attendance and support for low-income students could make a meaningful difference.

Open Quote The Dual Language program is excellent! My spouse and I are always excited to see the progress of our 4th and 1st graders have been making in their more classic studies as well as those undertaken in Spanish. We have enjoyed the interaction with teachers, administration and other engaged parents this school offers. Way to go Dillon Valley Elementary! Close Quote
