As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I personally grew up in the RE-2 School District and have recently relocated my family back to Silt from Jefferson County. Our daughter attended Kindergarten and the 1st Quarter in the Jefferson County School District. Before she left the school we met with her teacher to better know where she was with her knowledge level. We were advised that she was below average with Reading, Writing, and Math. Based on our working with her she was doing well and we think she might have struggled with Auditory learning as I had the same problem in elementary school. We spoke with her new teacher of the report we were given and the concerns we had about the diagnosis. She was put into reading supplement classes and phonics classes to catch her up. Within a week of her attending these courses we immediately noticed an improvement in her reading and writing skills. Unlike her old school she had a book that matched her skill level, was brought home daily and has a new book every 4 days. Her old school would send a book home for 1 night that she would get at best once every other week and was very simple. We now believe that the level of books she was reading at her old school were too easy for her and now after Christmas break after 3 months in school she is at a high reading level and is doing great. Cactus Valley is great about customizing children's learning experience to bring everyone up to speed with the class. Our daughter has made vast improvements in her math through counting coins in her classroom and making wonderful strides.

Other benefits we noticed:
She also went from being in a class of over 30 to being the 19th student in her class at CV.
She now has Art and Music classes which were cut from her other school.

The only concern I have about the district in general was a recent tax hike proposition to fund the schools better that was voted down in the last election and the district is talking about closing other schools in the district. The Bus schedule is also a little delayed because of the rural area so we drive our daughter to school and back everyday. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
