Even Goodnight Elementary School, another K-8 school in the same district, posts proficiency rates of 40.3% in ELA and 32.3% in math — more than triple PCSAS’s ELA rate and nearly ten times its math rate. Poverty alone does not explain these outcomes.

The combination of near-bottom rankings, extremely low proficiency, and high absenteeism points to serious school-level challenges. While the school has reduced its student-teacher ratio from about 19.8 to 15.7 over the past few years, test scores have continued to decline, suggesting that smaller classes alone are not solving the underlying issues. For parents considering this school, it’s important to understand that strong attendance and additional academic support would likely be crucial. A focus on early literacy, math intervention, and consistent engagement is essential to turning the school around.
