Pueblo School District No. 60's Park View Elementary School is a PK-5 school serving 285 students in a high-poverty area of Pueblo, where nearly 92% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The school holds a 1-star state rating and ranks in the 10th percentile of Colorado elementary schools, a position it has occupied for much of the past decade. Chronic absenteeism is a major concern: nearly half of students (49.4%) were chronically absent in 2024-2025, the highest rate among nearby schools and well above the state average of 28.4%.

Academically, Park View trails both district and state averages in most subjects. Eva R Baca Elementary School, with a nearly identical poverty rate, posted higher scores in every subject. Franklin School of Innovation, another high-poverty neighbor, far outpaced Park View in ELA, math, and science. Both schools also have lower chronic absenteeism. Park View does have one structural advantage: a 12.2:1 student-teacher ratio, the lowest among nearby schools. That resource has not yet translated into academic gains, suggesting that improving attendance may be the most promising lever for helping this school's students succeed.
