The school currently ranks in the 35th percentile of Colorado middle schools (2 stars), a step back from its 52nd-percentile showing in 2024–2025. About two-thirds of students (66.9%) qualify for free/reduced-price lunch, up from 51.4% a few years ago.

North Valley is the stronger of its district's two middle schools. Its ELA proficiency of 42.6% in 2024–2025 nearly matched the state average and was well above the district's 32.8%. Though ELA dipped to 35% in the most recent year, it still outpaced the district's 33.3%, and 7th grade ELA was the school's strongest grade-level result at 41.1%.
