Summary

Creativity Challenge Community is a K-5 elementary school in Denver, CO, serving 306 students and ranking among the top 2% of elementary schools in Colorado. Despite being part of School District No. 1, a district ranked just 71st out of 115 in the state, the school has earned 5 stars and currently ranks #19 out of 943 Colorado elementary schools — up from #52 last year and its best position in recent history.

The school's academic results are remarkable. In the most recent CMAS testing, 80.3% of students scored proficient in English language arts, compared to 42.5% for the district and 44.7% statewide. In math, 77.5% of students were proficient, more than double the district rate of 35.0% and the state rate of 37.3%. Science is an especially strong area: 81.0% of 5th graders were proficient, roughly 45 percentage points above the state average, and that figure has climbed steadily from 52.2% three years ago. Fifth-grade reading is particularly impressive, with 92.9% proficiency. Within the nearby cluster of high-performing schools, Creativity Challenge compares well with Slavens K-8 School (#21) and Steele Elementary School (#15), and it actually leads both in 5th-grade science.

Attendance is another standout. The school's chronic absenteeism rate is just 11.0%, far below the district's 38.1% and the state's 28.4%. This is in stark contrast to nearby schools like Ellis Elementary School (49.6%) and McMeen Elementary School (54.7%), and on par with Steele Elementary School (11.3%) and Cory Elementary School (10.2%). The school also performs exceptionally well across student subgroups, with both boys and girls ranking in the 96th percentile or higher statewide. Only 14.4% of students qualify for free/reduced lunch, a figure similar to Slavens and Steele, but the school's consistent top-tier results in a district with enormous socioeconomic diversity make it a true standout in Denver's southeast elementary landscape.
