Summary

Prairie View Middle School is a public middle school in Henderson, Colorado, serving 682 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the School District 27J, which is ranked 85 out of 115 school districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Prairie View Middle School consistently ranks in the bottom half of Colorado middle schools, with a ranking between 337-370 out of 400-480 schools over the past 10 years. The school's performance on CMAS tests is significantly below the state and district averages across all grades and subjects, with proficiency rates in English Language Arts (28%) and Math (16.8%) well below the state averages of 44.8% and 35.9%, respectively. The school also has higher dropout rates and chronic absenteeism compared to the state average.

While Prairie View Middle School's overall performance is low, the school's ranking for Gifted and Talented students is relatively higher, at 69 out of 126 Colorado middle schools in 2023-2024. Nearby schools within the same district, such as Overland Trail Middle School and Vikan Middle School, also perform poorly, suggesting that factors beyond just the district may be contributing to Prairie View's struggles. In contrast, some schools outside the district, like Denver Green School Northfield and Rocky Top Middle School, demonstrate significantly higher academic performance.

Open Quote As a parent I am so disappointed in this school. The lack the funding to teach properly and the kids hurt. The pandemic is hard, but they don't go to school Mondays and shortening the school days beyond that is outrageous. My child is going to fall far behind if we keep her in this school.
