Summary

High Peaks Elementary School is a top-performing public elementary school in Boulder, Colorado, serving grades K-5 and part of the highly-ranked Boulder Valley School District. The school consistently outperforms state and district averages on standardized tests, with 94.7% of students proficient or better in English Language Arts and 92.5% in Math, compared to 65.6% and 55.1% for the district, respectively.

High Peaks Elementary has a relatively low percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch at 11.74%, compared to higher rates at nearby schools like Community Montessori School (45.73%) and Whittier Elementary (68.02%). The school also maintains a low student-teacher ratio of 15.9 and a lower chronic absenteeism rate of 17.8%, outperforming the district averages.

While High Peaks Elementary's consistent academic excellence is impressive, the school's lack of socioeconomic diversity and fluctuating performance in its Gifted and Talented program may be areas for further exploration and improvement. When compared to other nearby elementary schools, such as Bear Creek Elementary and Eisenhower Elementary, High Peaks remains a standout, demonstrating the quality of education it provides to its students.

Open Quote terrible school, a nightmare for anybody who is not a wealthy and well connected boulderite. Some teachers are ok. But some are simply horrible. My son was a student at this school for 4 years. I still have nightmares about the experience and know that others do too. Close Quote
