Mountain View Elementary School is a K-5 school in Colorado Springs, CO, serving 567 students as part of the highly regarded Academy School District No. 20, a district ranked in the 91st percentile statewide. The school itself currently holds a 3-star rating and ranks 338 out of 943 Colorado elementary schools (64th percentile) for the 2025–2026 school year. While Mountain View still outperforms state averages in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, it has fallen steadily over the past decade — from a 97th-percentile ranking (29th in the state) in 2018–2019 to its current mid-pack position.

Several factors have accompanied the decline. Proficiency rates in math and science have dropped sharply since 2022–2023, with math falling from nearly 11 points above the district average to nearly 8 points below it. That said, the school sits in the lower-middle tier of its neighborhood, behind top performers like Explorer Elementary School (91st percentile), Chinook Trail Elementary School (89th), and Ranch Creek Elementary (84th), while remaining ahead of Frontier Elementary School, New Summit Charter Academy, and High Plains Elementary School. For parents, the picture is mixed: Mountain View is no longer the elite school it once was, but it remains above state averages, sits within one of Colorado's strongest districts, and has identifiable strengths to build on.
