Summary:

ZIP code 95240 has two Lodi Unified high schools, Tokay High and Liberty High, and both serve grades 9–12. Their 2025–2026 results show a clear difference between the schools: Tokay leads Liberty in all three tested subjects, with gaps of 40 percentage points in ELA, 23 in math, and 29 in science.

Tokay is the stronger performer overall: 60% of students were proficient in ELA, 26% in math, and 34% in science. Its ELA result was 11 points above the state’s 49%, while math was 13 points below the state and science 2 points below. Liberty had the lowest result in each subject, with 20% proficient in ELA, 2% in math, and 4% in science; it fell below the state in all three, including 30 points below in ELA. Graduation rates also favor Tokay: 95% versus 77% at Liberty.

Scores improved in both schools’ ELA and math results from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, but science did not improve everywhere. Tokay gained 17 points in ELA, 4 in math, and 7 in science; Liberty gained 4 in ELA and 2 in math, while its science result fell 1 point. SchoolDigger rankings also rose: Tokay moved from the 47th to the 60th percentile, and Liberty from the 6th to the 10th. As context, in 2024–2025, 79% of Liberty students and 69% of Tokay students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Liberty had a lower student–teacher ratio (14.3 versus 19.9) and higher reported spending per student ($34,422 versus $19,049), but these figures alone do not explain the difference in results. Liberty enrolls 126 students compared with 2,058 at Tokay, and 12th-grade science results are suppressed for both schools.
