Summary:

94587 has 10 listed schools: six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and one K–12 alternative school. The latest all-grades averages were 52% in ELA, 44% in math and 42% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%; seven schools exceeded the state in ELA, nine in math and six in science. These broad averages are unweighted across schools with different grade spans, so same-grade and same-school-type comparisons are more useful. The most important takeaway is how widely results differ from school to school: the highest-to-lowest ranges are 43 points in ELA, 44 in math and 37 in science.

Delaine Eastin Elementary is the clearest standout, leading all 10 schools with 77% in ELA, 67% in math and 64% in science. It is ahead of the next-highest school, Tom Kitayama Elementary, by 14, 9 and 10 points, respectively; Tom’s results are 63%, 58% and 54%. At the lower end, Searles Elementary has the lowest ELA result at 33%, while Cesar Chavez Middle has the lowest math and science results, at 24% and 26%. In the middle-school comparison, Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle leads Chavez by 15 points in ELA, 19 in math and 14 in science, and exceeds the state comparison in all three subjects.

Area averages rose 2 points in math and 4 in science from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, while ELA fell 1 point; changes varied by school. Pioneer Elementary gained 13 points in science, and Delaine Eastin gained 12, while New Haven Academy declined in all three subjects. SchoolDigger’s statewide rankings also place Delaine Eastin at the 90th percentile and Tom Kitayama at the 81st among elementary schools, compared with Searles at the 33rd. Elementary schools have similar student-teacher ratios, from 25.9 to 29.2, and their reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–2025 range from 32% at Delaine Eastin to 71% at Searles; these are context, not explanations for score differences.
