Summary:
Zip code 94530 has seven schools: three elementary schools, one middle school and three high schools, covering students from elementary through high school. In 2025–26, six schools had test scores; their unweighted averages were above state results in ELA (54% versus 49%), mathematics (45% versus 38%) and science (42% versus 36%). The most important finding is that those averages hide a wide divide between schools: some are well above state results across subjects, while others are below them.
Madera Elementary led the 2025–26 All Grades results with 79% in ELA, 73% in mathematics and 74% in science; Harding Elementary was second in all three, at 61%, 60% and 47%. Madera’s lead over Harding was 18 percentage points in ELA, 14 in mathematics and 27 in science. At the other end, Invictus Academy of Richmond scored 39%, 17% and 21%, respectively—below state results by 10, 22 and 15 points. SchoolDigger rates Madera five stars and in the 94th statewide percentile, Harding four stars and the 79th percentile, and Invictus one star and the 30th percentile.
Recent results were mixed: across the same six schools, average ELA and math scores each rose about 1 point from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while science fell by less than 1 point; El Cerrito High improved in all three subjects, while Fairmont Elementary declined in all three. SchoolDigger’s rankings also rose for Harding (71st to 79th percentile) and Madera (90th to 94th), but fell for Fairmont (71st to 59th) and Fred T. Korematsu Middle (70th to 60th). Other measures add context: Madera had the lowest chronic absenteeism, 13% versus 18% statewide, while Invictus had a 96% graduation rate versus 88% statewide despite its low test scores. For 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 13% at Madera, 34% at Harding and 79% at Invictus; these are observations, not explanations for results. Summit has no 2025–26 scores, and All Grades results cover different grade spans.
