Summary:
Seven elementary schools serve ZIP code 93907: six are K–6 and Lagunita Elementary is K–5. Results vary widely across the area, and the school averages are below California’s rates in all three subjects: about 32% in ELA versus 49% statewide, 28% in math versus 38%, and 19% in science versus 36%. The most important takeaway is that, despite a few strong results, the area’s average proficiency trails the state in every subject.
Boronda Elementary is the clearest standout among the K–6 schools, with 49% proficient in ELA, 36% in math, and 47% in science. Its ELA rate was about 22 points higher than Laurel Wood Elementary and 21 points higher than Boronda Meadows; in science, Boronda Elementary was 11 points above the state rate. Lagunita had the area’s highest reported ELA and math results, at 59% and 67%, but has just 62 students and serves fewer grades; its science result is suppressed, so there is no figure to compare. At the lower end, Echo Valley Elementary had the lowest ELA and reported science results, at 18% and 10%, while Oasis Charter Public had the lowest math result, at 13%.
Average results improved from 2024–25 to 2025–26: ELA rose about 5 points and math 3 points, narrowing their gaps with the state; science rose about 2 points, but its gap widened because the state improved more. SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 ranking placed Boronda Elementary at the 59th percentile, up from the 35th percentile in 2023–24; other currently ranked schools were between the 7th and 20th percentiles. Boronda Elementary’s student–teacher ratio was 22.1, close to Laurel Wood’s 21.9 and Boronda Meadows’ 22.9. Its free/reduced lunch eligible rate was 42% in 2024–25, compared with 60% at Laurel Wood and 77% at Boronda Meadows—useful context, not an explanation of their different results. Prunedale Elementary, for example, had an 84% free/reduced lunch eligible rate that year yet scored higher than Echo Valley in all three subjects.
