Summary:

Schools in ZIP code 93221 include seven schools in the Exeter area: two elementary schools, one middle school, two high schools and two alternative schools, serving grade spans from elementary-only through K–12 and enrolling 13 to 909 students. Across the six schools with reported 2025–26 all-grades results, the unweighted average was 51% in ELA, 35% in math and 29% in science. Because schools serve different grades, these all-grades figures are not fully like-for-like comparisons; Exeter Community Day’s school test figures are suppressed. The clearest overall pattern is that ELA was slightly above the state average, while math and especially science were below it.

Exeter Union High led reported all-grades results in ELA and science, with 70% and 41%, respectively—about 21 and 5 points above state figures. Lincoln Elementary led in math at 46%, about 8 points above the state. At the other end, Exeter Independent Study had the lowest reported result in each subject: 33% in ELA, 25% in math and 8% in science. SchoolDigger gives Rocky Hill, Lincoln and Exeter Union ratings in the 3- or 4-star range.

Group averages improved from 2024–25 to 2025–26: ELA rose 8 points, math 3 and science 4, though the gains were not universal; both elementary schools’ math results fell. Kaweah High had the largest ELA increase, up 29 points, but its 11th-grade results show a mixed picture: math was 36%, above Exeter Union High at 31%, while ELA and science were lower. Kaweah’s reported chronic absenteeism was 63%, compared with Exeter Union’s 13%, even as Kaweah’s graduation rate was 96%. As context, the reported measure for all seven schools was free/reduced lunch eligible (FRL), school year 2024–25; it ranged from 66% at Exeter Union to 90% at Kaweah. These figures describe different aspects of schools and do not by themselves explain their results.
