Summary:

Zip code 92582 has two public high schools, both serving grades 9–12 in San Jacinto Unified: Mountain View High and Mountain Heights Academy. In 2025–2026, neither school reached the state average in English language arts (ELA) or math, and even the higher-scoring school remained well below the state in all three tested subjects. The most important finding is that both schools face substantial academic gaps, especially in math.

Mountain Heights Academy stands out at the top of this two-school group, leading Mountain View High by 10 percentage points in ELA (25% versus 15%), 11 points in math (13% versus 2%), and 19 points in science (28% versus 9%). Still, Mountain Heights was 24 points below the state in ELA and 26 points below in math; in science, it was 8 points below the state but 4 points above the district. Mountain View was below the district in all three subjects. Graduation rates were 92% at Mountain Heights and 90% at Mountain View, while chronic absenteeism was high at both: 58% and 82%, respectively. Both reported a 0% dropout rate.

Recent results show different patterns by subject. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Mountain Heights’ ELA score fell by 18 percentage points, while its math rose by 7 and science by 11; Mountain View’s ELA rose by 4, science by 3, and math was essentially unchanged. Across the two schools, the gap with the state narrowed in math and science but widened in ELA. SchoolDigger’s latest statewide rankings also place Mountain Heights higher, at the 28th percentile versus Mountain View’s 13th; the rankings changed from 22nd and 19th percentile, respectively, in 2023–2024. For context, in 2024–2025 Mountain Heights enrolled 125 students and had a 32.3:1 student-teacher ratio, compared with 231 students and 19.2:1 at Mountain View. Both reported free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–2025: 91% at Mountain Heights and 94% at Mountain View. These figures are context, not explanations for school results; with relatively small enrollments, results may shift as tested groups change.
