Summary:

ZIP code 91762 has nine elementary schools serving 4,400 students in the Ontario-Montclair School District: seven serve K–6 and two serve K–8. The schools’ 2025–26 average results were 47% in ELA, 43% in math and 28% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%. Math is the group’s strongest subject relative to the state, while science is its clearest shortfall. Because two schools serve K–8, their all-grades results include middle-school grades. Most important for families, results vary widely from school to school: the strongest-to-weakest gaps are 32 percentage points in ELA, 29 in math and 29 in science.

Elderberry Elementary is a standout among K–6 schools, with 53% in ELA, 58% in math and 38% in science—about 3, 19 and 2 points above state results. Vista Grande Elementary also performed strongly across all three subjects, with 53% in ELA, 55% in math and 41% in science. Online Academy had the highest supplied all-grades ELA and science results, at 68% and 44%, and scored 57% in math; its results were 18, 8 and 18 points above state, respectively. It serves K–8 and has 125 students. At the other end, Richard Haynes Elementary scored 35% in ELA, 29% in math and 15% in science—14, 10 and 21 points below state.

Recent changes favor some schools, but not in every subject. Elderberry gained 9 points in ELA, 10 in math and 14 in science from 2024–25 to 2025–26; its SchoolDigger percentile also rose from 47 to 73. Online Academy gained 17 points in ELA and 7 in math, but fell 8 in science. Meanwhile, the nine-school mean improved by 2 points in ELA and 6 in math, but science rose by less than a point as the state result increased by 3 points. All schools report the same income measure, free/reduced lunch eligible, for 2024–25: reported shares range from 78% at Vista Grande to 93% at Elderberry, so this measure is useful context but does not sort schools by results. SchoolDigger percentiles and test-score changes are different measures, and school grade spans also differ.
